The Ensemble

The Ume Group works as an collaborative ensemble, which the Network of Ensemble Theaters defines as “a group of individuals dedicated to collaborative creation, committed to working together consistently over years to develop a distinctive body of work and practices.” Since 2011, over 26 people have been members of the Group’s “Core Ensemble” which averages anywhere from 4 to 12 members at a time and which typically involves commitment to year-long (or multi-year) learning, teaching, creative, and performance projects. The company also has an extensive network of alumni from its “Training Ensemble” (2013 – 2015) and Apprenticeship (2015 – 2016) programs and also often engages a variety of Guests Artists and outside collaborators.

Training Ensemble (2013 – 2015)

Additionally, from 2013 – 2015 we ran a program called the Training Ensemble where artists were selected to make work with one another under the guidance of a core Ume Ensemble member.  The alumni of that program are as follows…
